How Sangam Rishta works

Creating a matrimony profile on Sangam Rishta takes about 15 minutes and costs ₹0. You need an Android phone and a mobile number; parents can create profiles for their son or daughter from their own account.

Steps to create a profile and find matches

  1. Install the app. Install Sangam Rishta from Google Play on your Android phone.
  2. Create your account. Sign up with your mobile number and a password. The number is your login.
  3. Verify your number (recommended). Tap Verify in Account and enter the 6-digit code sent on WhatsApp. Verified accounts show a blue badge on their profiles.
  4. Create a profile. Tap Create profile and choose who it is for: self, son, daughter, brother, sister, relative or friend. Fill in basic details, community, horoscope, education and career, family and partner expectations.
  5. Choose number privacy. Decide whether members can see the contact number, or whether it is shared only when you accept an interest.
  6. Add photos. Add up to 3 clear photos of the person, picking several from the gallery at once. Side poses and full-length photos are fine; group photos are not.
  7. Wait for approval. An admin checks the profile and photos. Approved profiles become visible to logged-in members.
  8. Find matches. Search with filters on the Rishta tab, or swipe suggestions on the For You tab.
  9. Connect. Send an interest, or call / WhatsApp the family directly when their number is shown. Accepted interests share both numbers.
  10. Share or pause. Share a profile on WhatsApp with its Profile ID. When the marriage is fixed, pause or delete the profile.

What a Sangam Rishta profile contains

A Sangam Rishta profile follows the familiar Indian biodata format, so families can copy details straight from a printed biodata. Each section is optional except name, gender, date of birth and city.

Basic details

Name, gender, date of birth, height, complexion, marital status, mother tongue, physical disability.

Community

Religion, caste, sub-caste, gotra, native place, current city, state, country.

Horoscope

Manglik status, rashi, nakshatra, birth time and birth place.

Education and career

Highest education, degrees, college, occupation, company, annual income, work location.

Family

Father's and mother's names and work, brothers and sisters (married or not), family type, status and values.

Partner expectations

Age and height range, preferred education, occupation and states (several allowed), city, manglik preference and other expectations.

How interests and contact sharing work

An interest is a request to connect. When a family accepts it, both families can see each other's mobile number and call or WhatsApp. If a family has chosen to show their number publicly, members can call them directly without an interest. Each new interest and each accepted interest arrives as a notification on the phone.

Profiles for parents and relatives

Most Indian marriages are arranged with the help of the family, so Sangam Rishta lets a parent, brother, sister, relative or friend manage the profile. One account can hold up to 3 profiles. When a family member later signs up with the number written on the profile and confirms it with a WhatsApp OTP, the profile moves into their own account.
